The NWE10 is an electronic outdoor whistle designed for communication, location signalling and emergency distress situations. Unlike a conventional whistle, it does not require repeated blowing: a single press activates an electronic audible signal that can operate automatically for extended periods.
With a maximum sound output of 126 dB and a frequency of 3,300 Hz, the signal is designed to stand out from natural environmental noise. This makes the NWE10 particularly useful for trail running, hiking, orienteering, outdoor races, camping and situations where you need to quickly signal your location.
The NWE10 provides two automatic signalling modes: SOS and BEACON.
SOS mode automatically repeats the international distress signal. Once activated, the button does not need to be continuously held down. This can be particularly useful if a person is injured, exhausted or subsequently unable to actively call for help.
BEACON mode produces a repeating audible signal designed to act as an acoustic location marker. Placed at a fixed location, the NWE10 can help team members identify the direction of a campsite or meeting point in darkness, fog, snow or dense vegetation.
Its built-in 300 mAh Li-ion battery has been specially designed for reliable low-temperature operation. The NWE10 can operate in temperatures as low as -40°C, making it suitable for winter sports and extremely cold environments.
Both SOS and BEACON modes provide a maximum runtime of 80 hours. Charging is performed directly via USB-C. The NWE10 can also continue to operate while charging and can be connected to a power bank for extended use.
The NWE10 weighs only 38 g without its bracket and 48 g with the OUTDOCK™ bracket. It features a built-in clip and lanyard hole, while the supplied OUTDOCK™ bracket allows attachment to backpack shoulder straps, webbing and MOLLE systems.
The housing is made from high-hardness plastic to combine low weight with durability. The NWE10 carries an IPX7 water resistance rating and is impact resistant to 1 metre.
The NWE10 can also be used to alert certain wildlife to your presence. However, it is not a dedicated wildlife deterrent and should not replace appropriate safety measures.
Due to its maximum sound output of 126 dB, prolonged close-range use near the ears should be avoided.
